Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (MH370) vanished from the radar with 239 people on board while flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on 8 March 2014. Its disappearance is one of the world’s biggest aviation mysteries, despite an extensive search and investigations in the Indian Ocean. The families of Malaysians who were on board MH370 still struggle for closure on what happened to their loved ones.

In China, dozens of family members of Chinese passengers of MH370 continue to call for a new investigation. They have also filed lawsuits against Malaysia Airlines, the aircraft’s manufacturer Boeing, engine maker Rolls-Royce and the Allianz insurance group. Malaysia's civil aviation industry has been greatly impacted by the MH370 incident. Malaysia Airlines has undergone restructuring, while the aviation operations regulator, the Department of Civil Aviation, is now known as the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia.
