I have been a scale modeler for over 20 years. I built countless number of sci-fi models, especially Gunpla!
But I have never completed a scale model of a fighter jet. Every time I visited a hobby store, my wife would say “You never finished a fighter jet! Don’t buy any more of them!”
And just like that, I decided to build a fighter jet for my wife’s birthday!
This video is divided into 12 segments, plus 1 video presentation.
You will see various techniques being used in each segment, including:
Using 3D decals, painting and rendering, using water decals, patching undercuts, using metallic colors, masking for seam line removal, adding LEDs, adding panel lines and rivets, polishing clear parts, masking for color separation, detailing, 3D-scanning for figurine, adding custom lighting, slimming down exhaust nozzle, setting and softening water decals, weathering, arranging display base and overall composition!
I encountered all sorts of problems, but fortunately, Mr Jerry was here to the rescue and taught me everything!
We added SWIT FLOW500 Wireless Transmission System and SWIT CM-55C Monitor to our list of equipment. Finally our director Mr Rong and our cameraman Mr Xiang Bo no longer needed to squeeze themselves in front of the small camera screen. The team can now work remotely at the same time and figure out how to capture the best images.
We also upgraded to a LAOWA 24mm T14 2X Periprobe lens and a 9.SOLUTIONS C-PAN ARM II guiding system so we can capture the beauty of this F-14 and all the details and weathering from every angles possible.
