SpaceX is the undisputed space industry leader; their merits and accolades have put any doubts to rest.
With a series of remarkable accomplishments that have never before been witnessed in the annals of the rocket industry, the company has rewritten the narrative of space travel and redefined our understanding of what's possible.
Specifically, SpaceX has launched twice as many rockets from the Space Coast this year than the United States did in the heat of the Space Race in 1966, and the pace doesn’t appear to be slowing anytime soon.
Thanks to that, Gov. Jeanette Nuñez announced the Space Coast should rack up a record-shattering 80 orbital launches by year's end — with more than 101 launches scheduled in 2024.
Nearly 60 SpaceX flights is a remarkable increase from 30 launches three years ago. This year has even included three days with two launches in a single day.
In 1966, the Space Coast saw 29 rocket launches, including two in about a 90-minute window as part of NASA’s Gemini program. This year on Oct. 13, SpaceX launched a Falcon Heavy and a Falcon 9 rocket just eight hours, 42 minutes apart.
While this was already a miracle, Elon Musk yesterday truly shocked the whole industry when announcing that: ''SpaceX launches every 3 days from the Cape in Florida, next year every 2 days.
To consider, this means 182 launches in 2024 from Cape.
If this plan becomes real, it will be at an unprecedented level!
