明景泰三年（1452年）順德建縣後，建制為都、堡、圖、村四級。全縣分東涌、馬寧、景安、西淋四都，分統38堡，303村。其後，鼎安併入西淋都。東涌都管轄大良、倫教、黃連、容奇、桂洲等12個堡。容桂堡轄4圖2村，桂洲堡轄5圖3村。
容桂街道因以前有容山、奇山得名。桂洲：於南宋末年，南雄珠磯巷人逃難至扶寧崗定居，因崗上有三株較大的桂花樹，故稱桂花洲，以後逐漸簡稱桂洲。因由容奇和桂洲兩地合併而來，且是政府派出機關的管轄區域，故名。
每年農曆五月初五端午節，容桂都會舉辦龍舟巡遊，龍舟來自不同坊社，上面載有羅傘、高標、彩旗和一座供奉著該坊社或廟神像的小神樓（也叫行宮），相互比排場、比威風、鬥艷麗。參與劃龍舟的人傍晚也會在坊社吃龍舟飯。

After Shunde was established as a county in the third year of Jingtai in the Ming Dynasty (1452), it was organized into four levels: city, fort, map, and village. The county was divided into four cities: Dongchong, Maning, Jing'an, and Xilin, which governed 38 forts and 303 villages. Later, Ding'an was incorporated into Xilin City. Dongchong City governed 12 forts, including Daliang, Lunjiao, Huanglian, Rongqi, and Guizhou. Ronggui Fort governed 4 maps and 2 villages, and Guizhou Fort governed 5 maps and 3 villages.
Ronggui Street was named after Rongshan and Qishan in the past. Guizhou: In the late Southern Song Dynasty, people from Zhuji Lane in Nanxiong fled to Funinggang and settled there. Because there were three large osmanthus trees on the hill, it was called Guihuazhou, and later it was gradually shortened to Guizhou. It was named because it was formed by the merger of Rongqi and Guizhou, and it was the jurisdiction area of the government dispatched agencies.
Every year on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, during the Dragon Boat Festival, Ronggui holds a dragon boat parade. The dragon boats come from different communities and are loaded with umbrellas, high flags, colorful flags, and a small shrine (also called a palace) dedicated to the community or temple's deity. The boats compete with each other in grandeur, majesty, and beauty. In the evening, the participants in the dragon boat race also eat dragon boat meals in the community.
