In 2018, Hong Kong artist Ducky Tse Chi Tak and his friend, poet Liu Wai-tong, moved to Taiwan together. They had previously documented numerous social movements in Hong Kong, including the Queen's Pier Conservation Campaign against its demolition due to land reclamation projects, the resistance to the demolition of the historic Choi Yuen Village for the construction of the high-speed rail, and the Umbrella Revolution in 2014. For years, they chronicled the social changes in Hong Kong through poetry and photography. Why did they ultimately decide to leave Hong Kong?

Ducky Tse Chi Tak came to Taiwan as an investor immigrant. He put aside his photography work and started converting vans into campers. In his view, there are many differences between Taiwan and Hong Kong. He decided to step out of his comfort zone, traveling around Taiwan alone to get to know the island better.

Liu Wai-tong settled in Linkou, using poetry to capture the experiences of Chinese people who had wandered through Taiwan, including those who left, those who arrived, and those who stayed to defend the island. For him, he is also searching for his own sense of place in Taiwan. In 2021, both of them officially became Taiwanese citizens. How will they continue to connect with Hong Kong from Taiwan in the future?
