One of the most important relationships - and most challenging - is that of a parent and child. Parenting can be joyful, frustrating, confusing, fulfilling, exhausting,...you name it. We'd love to be friends with our kids, but how does that work? As we lead our kids to Christ, what are the principles we can implement to shape our children into his image? How can we show our kids love the way our Heavenly Father loves and parents us?
58% of Americans today report that they are lonely. That number jumps to 70% for leaders. It's lonely at the top, as they say.
In this episode, we discuss how to overcome the obstacles that get in the way and how to fight for meaningful friendships.
We wrap up our three-episode series on Scarcity Mindsets with the topic of time. We feel like we never have enough of it. We're racing and struggling to squeeze every last bit of time out of our days, and it's a resource we can never truly replace. It's finite. But if we fall into the trap of believing that God hasn't given us enough time to accomplish his call on our lives, we are missing out on the freedom and joy he invites us to experience on the journey. Receive a few fresh leadership insights about how God wants us to enjoy and steward the gift of time.
Continuing the conversation from our last episode, another area we struggle with as leaders and just simply Christ-followers is fighting a scarcity mindset with our money. We are leaders (stewards) of our finances, to use them wisely and in alignment with God's heart and mission. Money is a test; a test of our faith, trust, and obedience. In this episode, we talk about our journey and struggles in trusting God in this area of generosity and leading others in their generosity as well.
Have you ever felt like you have a lid on your leadership, and it's you? Have you ever felt like you're incapable of doing what's set out in front of you? Whether we doubt our own abilities, or we don't know how to grow, or we feel discouraged by comparison to others, we often wrestle with ourselves and our own abilities. In this podcast, Pastor Kyle Dana, Brittany Grim, and Katie Dorsey discuss what it means to have a scarcity mindset when it comes to our own abilities and how to fight against that mindset.
One of the most impactful things a Christian leader can do is meet consistently with a gathering of fellow believers. We call these small groups, and not only do they grow you and your faith, they build necessary friendships to face the challenges of life. We believe with a little inspiration and training, you can either launch a brand new group of your own, or, if you already have one, you can make your current group great! Listen in on this conversation with Nathan Lawrence and Katie Dorsey covering the foundational principles of launching & leading a great small group.
Life can be overwhelming. The responsibilities and deadlines we face are seemingly non-stop, particularly for us as leaders. What does the Bible have to say about feeling overwhelmed, and continuing to lead even when we are met with these feelings? Are there practical skills we can use to manage stress? What do we need to let go of? What do we need to hold onto? We'll talk about these issues and more in this episode focused on the busy pace of the life of a leader.

People need different leadership at different moments. If we fail to recognize that, we can unintentionally frustrate the people we're trying to support. In this conversation between Nathan Lawrence and Rachel Black, Associate Area Director for InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, we'll discuss a well-known method called Situational Leadership®, and how you can use it as a framework to lead more effectively. Armed with this tool, you'll be able to determine the right kinds of direction or support needed for the moment.
As leaders, we know church attendance across the globe has gone through a major upheaval in the last couple of years. Has it changed for good? Is the definition of "attending regularly" different now? With so many digital venues to "attend" (podcasts, videos, and many other media), is our old view of in-person church attendance outdated? Isn't attending in-person worship every Sunday a legalistic relic of the past?
How should we as leaders understand the meaning and purpose of corporate worship in a changing, digital, post-COVID world? How do we encourage and challenge those we lead to do the same?
Listen in on the discussion with Pastor Kyle Dana, Pastor Nathan Lawrence, and Gina Cone from Prairie Lakes Church, Fort Dodge Campus.

Leaders often pride themselves on hard work and drive. Yet for thousands of years, God has also called us as leaders to restore our souls by resting weekly. This ancient practice, called Sabbath, is something we've dug into a lot lately as a church.
Hear how it's going so far - really - in the daily practices of four of our staff members (Kyle, Nathan, Gina, and Jacey), and learn from some of their victories and mistakes along the way.
We as leaders can have strong opinions. What happens when you're faced with a person who just leaves you scratching your head with the decisions they're making and the way they are choosing to run things? Is the problem with them or is the problem with us? Every leader needs to wrestle when it's time to coach and when it's time to relinquish control.
There's a sensitive dynamic in leadership when you're working with someone of the opposite gender. The pitfalls can be enormous - the church has suffered greatly over the generations because of situations when these boundaries fell apart. In this podcast, we discuss the question, "How do we as followers of Christ best navigate ministry with people of the opposite gender?"
Maybe you've been there personally, or maybe you've been there as a leader of a team...you're trying to make a God-honoring decision for what to do; what direction to go. In those moments, how can you know you're hearing from God, following his voice, going the direction he wants you to go? Join us as we explore that topic, with some insights gleaned from a sermon on the topic from Red Rocks Church by Doug Wekenman, and some discussion of the Jerusalem council account in Acts 15.
