India detects Omicron sub-variants BA.4 & BA.5; Saudi imposes travel ban | Top updates

Scare after two sub-variants of highly transmissible Omicron variant of Covid-19 has been found in India. Two cases of BA.4 & BA.5 have been reported in Telangana and Tamil Nadu. A 19-year-old girl was found infected with BA.4 sub-variant in Tamil Nadu and an 80-year-old man tested positive for BA.5 sub-variant in Telangana. Both cases have mild clinical symptoms and are fully vaccinated with no travel history.
